Canford Classics are pleased to offer to the market this matching numbered 1972 911S, produced on 1st June 1972 and registered in California, USA. It remained in California from 1972 to 1989, at which point it was imported to Poole in the UK before ending up in Jersey. It spent the next 18 years in Jersey before returning to Dorset where, in 2013 it was UK registered.

The car is sold with an impressive history dating back to 1979, with multiple receipts detailing works commissioned by its 3 documented American owners. In 1989 the car was imported to Jersey, via Poole. It remained in Jersey with 4 documented owners. The detailed service history continues with photographs of engine and bodywork being carried out circa 1989/1990. The car was given another very appropriate registration whilst in Jersey of “J24911”.

The body is finished in the original colour of Silver Metallic and is presented in good condition. The car is a non-sunroof model and has manual windows. Details on a Porsche supplied Certificate of Authenticity show the car to be matching numbers. The original standard seats have been replaced with a Recaro Sport Seat replica, with period correct houndstooth centres.

In the cabin, the seats are in excellent condition along with the salt and pepper style carpet, Previously fitted air conditioning has been removed and the original knee trims have been refitted. The 1972 specific gear shifter remains.

Being a 1972 “Oelklappe” model, this 2.4S is particularly desirable.  During its current ownership Canford Classics was requested to convert the original engine to run on Electronic Fuel Injection giving the performance and drivability of this car a huge increase. It needs to be driven to be understood. All the original induction remains with the car in case any future owner wanted to return the car to Mechanical Fuel Injection. All these works are documented as are the dyno results. During the engine rebuild this 911S also benefited from a new clutch, new correct XWX tyres, rebuilt alternator and new starter.
