SOLD! 1979 930 Turbo Coupe
Overview
Canford Classics are proud to present for sale this very original 1979 930 Turbo Coupe.
This car is finished in its original colour Minerva Blue (W9W9) with black leather sports seats and recently renewed black carpet. This genuinely low mileage Turbo (45000 miles) is a full matching number car. The service book is present as is the Certificate of Authenticity listing its original numbers for the engine and gearbox. Further optional equipment includes impact absorbers (front and rear), 88 ah battery, coloured windows and air conditioning (which is currently not fitted but is included in the sale).
The 930 started as a homologation model due to FIA group 4 rules requiring 400 road cars to be produced, but such was demand for the high performance luxury Coupe that it soon became a fully-fledged model and then went on to become Porsche's flagship and '80's poster super car.
1978 saw evolutionary changes to the 930 Turbo, including engine displacement from 3.0 to 3.3 ltr and air-to-air inter-cooler. These changes pushed the performance figures to 300hp and 304lb ft torque. To then keep control of the additional performance the suspension was upgraded, plus new brakes fitted that were similar to those of the iconic 917 race car. These changes made the 930 Turbo the fastest accelerating car of its day.
There are several invoices showing this Turbo was correctly maintained, including most recently a major service, brake fluid change and replacement interior black carpet set. Several MOT certificates are present within the file.
The 930 is one of Porsche's most iconic, prestigious and collectible classics.
