Canford Classics are pleased to offer to the market this 1973 911T, delivered by AFN Isleworth to its first owner on the 1st December 1972.
The car is sold with a good service history with AFN dealer stamps in the original Maintenance Record that date from 11th December 1972. Information in the Maintenance Record shows that the car remained with its first owner until March 1984, by which time it had covered an impressive 186000 miles.
In 1986 NYX79L was taken off the road and stored for some 23 years before being purchased by Alan Drayson at Canford Classics. Restoration works were completed by the summer of 2010 and the car delivered to its current owner who, during the restoration, had decided upon some subtle and tasteful upgrades.
The body is finished in the original colour of Gemini Blue Metallic and is presented in excellent condition. The car is a non-sunroof model with electric windows. Body and bumper trims are to S specification and the bonnet sports a beautifully restored orange bar Porsche crest.
In the cabin, the original Recaro Sports Seats have been restored with the addition of heating elements for both driver and passenger. A 380mm steering wheel was sourced and double wrapped in leather, with a hub spacer and an original ‘Hockey Puck’ style horn push. A Blaupunkt Koln radio also takes its rightful place in the dash.
The current owner didn’t stop at visual upgrades! The front brakes have been upgraded to S specification aluminium calipers, and the shocks have been manufactured by Bilstein. As part of the gearbox rebuild, a ZF limited slip diff was fitted. The original engine capacity has been increased from 2.4L to 2.7L and the cams changed from T to S specification. The cases were shuffle pinned and the heads have been ported and flow tested, while induction is taken care of by a pair of Weber carburettors. All the extra performance required an upgrade to the oil cooling system, so 1973 specification oil lines, thermostat and front cooler were also fitted. Details of the engine and gearbox build are contained in the history folder, and include a rolling road print out from Bob Watson showing a healthy 217BHP.
The history folder shows the current owner’s fastidious approach towards maintaining and caring for this Porsche. There are receipts throughout his ownership from Bob Watson Engineering, Porsche Centre Guilford, Center Gravity and Canford Classics. There are also some MOTs and tax discs dating back to the 1980s and a copy of issue 9 of Classic Porsche Magazine where NYX79L made the front cover.
