Overview

Here at Canford Classics we are very  pleased to offer this original “Tangerine” 1969 Porsche 911E for sale on behalf of its current owner.

This early long wheel base edition of the 911 has an air-cooled, rear-mounted, 2.0 L (1991 cc) flat-6 "boxer" engine. It is mated to a five-speed manual "Type 901" transmission.

The car was originally supplied to the dealer ‘Petermax Müller’’ of Hannover in September 1968 (69 model year) and was imported into the UK in 2008.

The current owner purchased this 911E in 2009 and proceeded to converted the car for historic road sports where it went on to great racing success. Starting in 2011 with class wins in 2011 and 2012, Championship overall winner 2013 and 2014 plus class wins during full seasons up to 2017. The car also scored a class win at the Sliverstone Classic 2018.

The race weight of just 945kg and a dyno proven 196bhp (tested in 2021) gave impressive performance and little wonder as to why it proved to be extremely competitive and successful.

Since hanging up its racing slicks the car has undergone some ‘softening’ here at Canford Classics to enable it to be used more comfortably as a road car but still keeping some of the race car features such as the rear roll cage and bucket seats. The engine has been fully rebuilt 2021 and tested on an engine dyno showing a healthy 196 bhp, all of which is documented in the history folder. Canford have also just fitted a new headliner and carpet making the interior a comfortable place to be. Now fitted with a set of new tyres and new seat belts this 69E makes for a great track day car or fast road car for those early morning, crack of dawn spirited drives. This is a car we have known for many years and will not disappoint any potential buyer. A test drive is best way to truly understand this little hot rod, it’s a true drivers 911.
