The body shell started life as a 78 SC, which was raced in its earlier life. The car came to Canford Classics already stripped and with some body and mechanical works already undertaken. After a brief inspection it was clear all the works already undertaken would need to be done again. The shell was fully stripped back to bare metal and the body work commenced. Each panel was painstakingly checked, and gapped before the entire shell received a coat of Porsche Signal Orange.
Gearbox is a fully rebuilt aluminum 915 unit with a factory LSD. reinforced side plate, and single bearing retainer. All gear linkages, pedal assembly and gearstick has been fully stripped and rebuilt.
The entire suspension has been upgraded and is as fresh and clean as the upper body. Each item has been carefully inspected and detailed before being meticulously rebuilt. Running on coilovers with an upgraded anti-roll bar system, which in its own right is a thing of beauty, has resulted in a perfect road holding set up. Stopping power is courtesy of our friends at Carbon 12. Chris there makes several brake upgrades for the 911, and this car is fitted with his top of the range set, which has some features made specifically for us.
This RSR runs on 9s and 11s which were refinished in house. The spare is also a Fuchs, 6 x15, again refinished in house and fits over a 110 ltr fuel tank, held in by one our tyre straps.
Whilst the car does not want for power, handling or acoustic bliss we still wanted to retain some comfort. Thus rather than use a cheap lightweight carpet, which, for most, is quickly laid over the rear seating area and parcel shelf, we trimmed (with correct sound deadening) an original salt and pepper carpet, made and installed a full headliner, trimmed correct rear 1/4 cards and parcel shelf. Even under the bonnet a tailored carpet section has been applied, thus giving some safe storage if required. Whilst many cars use tie downs to fix the bonnet and engine lid, we decided to fit correct cable pulls, which means no one can help themselves to what you have tucked away under the bonnet or take a peak at what generates your HP.
All the bright work has been restored and the chrome items re-plated.
Rather than risking any contaminates from using older parts the oil cooler, tank, lines and thermostate are all new items. The sill mounted oil lines we fabricate ourselves.
