Every now and again a 911 turns up which makes you stop and look. Not always for the glorious paint work or fully detailed engine, simply because they remain so original. This 1974 911S Targa is one of those! It has just arrived at Canford HQ from Arizona where the constant hot sun has bleached the "original" paint to what we now see. Canford have been commissioned to go through the car and obtain a UK MOT and also register the car. Both are being undertaken at the moment.
Produced late 1973 this 1974 model 911 is just a few weeks younger than its 1973 sibling yet the differences were huge. The 1974 model represents the start of the "Impact Bumper" or G Series cars. This 1974 is a blank canvas for a buyer to purchase and use, or restore or to slowly work on. The original engine and gearbox drive very well and we are informed the engine was rebuilt in the US before being exported to the UK. The shell is simply amazing, one of the best early Targa shells we have seen. Never welded and zero rust, it’s not often you can say that about these early 911s.
The car is being sold as is, UK registered and with a full year’s MOT. In todays market we know a 911 like this is not for everyone, but if reading this and you are looking for a low mileage, rock solid, early Targa oozing in patina, then this is the car for you!
